Below are some pictures of Tim Norris' bean field.  The corn last year was planted with RTK and the beans this year were planted with the ODOT VRS RTK Network.  The goal was to plant the beans 7 ½ “ from the old corn rows.  Here are some pictures of the end result.  The idea is to plant off to the side of the row to maintain better seed to soil contact by having the planter units ride beside the row instead of on top of the stalks.  The end result is better stands which translates into higher yield.

This is Tim Norris' tractor and Ag Info Tech’s DMI NutriPlacer.  It is equipped with infrared sensors that can  detect the nitrogen needs of the plant and change the rates as you go through the field.
