Gearing Up For Growth

For Tim Norris, CEO of Ag Info Tech LLC, a precision technology and consulting business in Gambier, OH, 2010 was year of healing. The previous year on Thanksgiving weekend, his business burned to the ground, taking all of the computers and virtually every bit of technology inventory he had in storage.

Rising from the Ashes

Tim Norris was enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with family when the call came. There’s a fire on his property.

Norris manages Ag InfoTech LLC, a precision technology consulting firm in Gambier, OH. On his property at the time were four buildings — a historic stone house his family calls home, the storage and office facility for his business, a newer building that houses the tractors and implements used on the acreage he owns, and an old barn. During the frantic drive back home, he imagines that it’s his house that is burning.

Growing the Business

In 2004, Tim Norris was an Ohio-based agronomist and ag technology expert that had just left the local cooperative to start his own consulting business, Agronomic Information Technologies. His early experiments with automatic steering turned him on to its potential, and led him to form alliances with growers and ag business to develop the area’s first RTK tower network. The Central Ohio RTK Network, or CORN, covers about a third of Norris’ grower-customer base today. Read More>>
